St Joseph, Real State Agent?

St Joseph, Real State Agent?

oshlo.blogspot.com - Would you please comment on the popular custom of burying a statue of St. Joseph in the yard with a prayer for his help in selling a home? Some people say it’s superstitious, but others say it’s just a concrete gesture that expresses a prayer intention, much like lighting a votive candle or placing flowers before a statue.
Fr. Rocky: Poor St. Joseph! But the amazing thing is, it often works! I think the idea behind it is that if you’re trying to sell your house and you’re not getting anywhere, you ask St. Joseph for help. If he doesn’t come to your aid, then you tell him – with faith and affection – “OK, I’m going to bury you upside down in the backyard until you get this thing sold, so get moving!” Once it sells, you better dig him up, clean him off, put him in a prominent place in your new home and honor him in some appropriate way. “St. Joseph, pray for us!”
