oshlo.blogspot.com - If you're coming here from The Age or SMH (as I'm in today's Sunday Life magazine) then a big friendly hello to you and thanks for stopping by. Of course if you're a regular reader then a big hello to you too! In the article, Ahead of the Curve, I was interviewed along with other fatshion bloggers Danimezza and This is Ashley Rose about plus size fashion - our tips on where to shop and our biggest gripes with the industry. I talked about my love of shopping vintage at stores like Savers and Bombshell Vintage but what was left out is my love, no passion for, supporting local independent Australian designers. I'm talking straight sized clothes, not plus size - so yes it can be hard to always buy from the labels I love as they generally all stop at a size 12 or 14, but that's where the mantra that I mentioned in the article, of ignoring the size on the label and trying things on, comes into play. That's how I ended up with this beautiful floral dress by local label Limedrop that I've lusted over for many months. Unsure if it would fit me in their largest size, a size 12, I waited until they had a VIP shopping night at their Fitzroy studio to try it on and make sure it worked. I instantly fell in love with the way it draped and flowed over my curves but mostly I fell in love with the bright floral print. Limedrop are known for their digital prints, and this pink floral is my favourite of theirs ever so I'm very excited to own a piece from this collection.

I asked Henry if my hair was ok before he took these photos and he said it did. Well I don't understand what he sees because it most definitely was not ok, hair stuck under the headband oddly, fly-aways galore, not the look I was going for. The light was perfect and I don't look grumpy so I'm just gonna roll with it.

I picked up the pink and lilac chain bracelets at House of Baulch's recent studio sale. I never step foot in jewellery chain stores any more, not when there are so many talented independent local jewellery designers who the big chains always copy anyway. I do try to shop local as much as possible, of course being plus size makes this a little harder when it comes to clothes but with jewellery there is no excuse (for me) so I'm always on the look out for new designers and studio sales. The quality is so much higher too, there is no tarnishing like with the cheaper chain stores and none of those awful green stains on your skin you get from the cheaper stuff. The good news is House of Baulch's studio sale continues online so if you couldn't make it down be sure to check it out now.

Recently I've been really into mixing prints so I'm loving the clash of floral from my Strathcona socks with my Limedrop dress. The black in the socks ties in with the black of my leather biker jacket centering the look.

I also wanted to share with you a different way I styled up the Limedrop dress. I've been posting recently a little about my shifting sense of style, how I'm looking to move into different forms of layering, changing up my silhouettes and mixing prints. This outfit encompasses all of those things with the red tulle dress by Central Saint Martins graduate Molly Goddard's collaboration with ASOS layered over my Limedrop digital floral print dress and the clashing print of my floral socks by Strathcona from Dagmar Rousset. All my accessories stayed the same but with the addition of the red tulle dress the look is completely different. Expect to see me experimenting more with this Molly Goddard piece, it makes such a statement.

I love this new lip colour by Sportsgirl, it's called Mad About You and it's a great fuchsia pink, whenever I wear it I get lots of compliments.

Close up of my new chain necklace from House of Baulch's studio sale. My sister picked up some beautiful rose gold pieces and is so happy as she loves anything rose gold.
